Fishing Report- Week of 1/23/17 Posted

Well with it raining all week again not much has changed with the water clarity or in the fishing department. The lake is still brown, but luckily last week the wind was on our side and help us push much of the debris covering the dam area to and out of the spillway. Using bait that has an odor to it is still recommended, since the fish are relying more on smell than vision. We got some good reports from fisherman that the spillway has been good fishing. Fish are still shallow and relatively close to shore, so remember not to go too deep or they will just pass it up. Don’t forget to check us out on Facebook for more catches and details!

Fishing Report- Week of 1/2/16 Posted

We are now 4ft from full, but with all this rain in the forecast we may fill and spill over soon. Reports from fisherman are that the Trout are shallow and about 10ft from shore. Smaller Kastmasters, PowerBait, and Mice Tails are still working best both from shore and by boat fishing the shoreline in the back of the lake. Mountain Springs has been turning out lots of fish in the past couple of weeks. Trolling the Jackson Creek area with broken back Fire Tiger Rapalas (J-7) is always good. Don’t forget to check us out on Facebook for more catches and details!

Fishing Report- Week of 12/26/16 Posted

We are now only 6 feet from full and the current water temperature is 55 degrees. The handicap ramp is hooked up to the big dock and functional. We have stocked every week this month with our last plant on the 22nd of 1200lbs and another load expected this week. Trolling has definitely picked up in the last two weeks! Rapalas and spinners are the lures of choice in the Jackson Creek area. I still have reports of boaters bait fishing the coves and shoreline in Jackson Creek and Mountain Springs areas. We have received a good amount of tagged fish from our derby (7 total from yesterday alone 12/26!), most from in the back of the lake showing that the fish do school together and are on the move. From shore Kastmasters, Micetails, PowerBait, and white Power Eggs are working well. Reports from fisherman are that fish are fairly shallow and close to shore, with most casting out from 5-10ft from shore. Don’t forget to check us out on Facebook for more catches and details!

Fishing Report- September Posted

Top water fishing for Bass is on right now, and will more than likely continue through October.  They are breaking the surface chasing shad balls around the lake.  Zara Spook Puppies are a favorite, while worms are still working well at deeper depths.  Crappie have been caught anywhere up to 40ft deep. Still many Bluegill all around the lake.  Smaller Catfish in the 4-9lb range are being caught all hours of the day.  Don’t forget to check us out on Facebook for more catches and details!

Fishing Tips Posted

The Trout have moved a little deeper and are in the 20ft range. Power Bait, Mice Tails, Kastmasters, and Night Crawlers are the choice of shore anglers. Use a small ball of Power Bait with a 5ft leader, cast out at 25ft and let it sink. Boaters trolling with Apexes and Broken Back Rapalas are doing well in the Jackson Creek area.

The Trout bite is on! Posted

Fish shallow and focus on the corners and pockets around the shoreline.  The Dam is always productive but don’t overlook the coves in the back of the lake if you bring a boat to get there.  Use garlic rainbow or chartreuse Power Bait or run a small kastmaster to get hooked into a nice trout.

Use Kastmasters for Bank Fishing Posted

This is a great lure for bank fishing on sunny days.
Cast out and let it sink for ten seconds before retrieving it
Slowly crank it in – work it so that it has a little action

4000LBS OF TROUT WILL BE STOCKED THURSDAY OCTOBER 22ND Posted

We stocked our first load of trout on October 22nd 2015 with a weight of 4000lbs to get the season under way. So far we have stocked a total of 12,900lbs. Check out our stocking totals page for more details. With the lingering drought many trout rearing facilities have closed down including our own and getting trout has become quite difficult for many lakes in California.  Luckily we were able to secure the same 40,000lbs from Lassen we stocked last year so the fishing should be great.
